Our journey begins at a very leisurely 10:00 AM. After a quick motorway comfort stop, we arrive in the charming coastal town of Carboneras. Here, we indulge in a delicious, filling lunch at our cozy hotel before checking in to chill out and enjoy this delightful seaside town. As twilight falls, we wrap up warm and venture out at 19:00 for our Night Sky with Telescope Star Gazing experience. A short drive and a gentle, flat walk bring us into the pristine dark skies at the edge of the iconic Cabo de Gata Natural Park. Our expert guides will use professional telescopes and naked-eye observation to reveal twinkling constellations, distant galaxies, and ancient celestial mythology against the stunning backdrop of the Almería coastline. We then return to the hotel for a cozy light bite around 21:30 before a restful night’s sleep.

Following a traditional Spanish breakfast, we set off at 08:30 for a breathtaking drive into the Sierra de Los Filabres, ascending to an impressive altitude of 2,150 meters (7,100 feet). Here, at Europe’s premier optical observatory, expert astronomers will guide us through live solar observations using specialized telescopes. You will safely view the sun’s dynamic surface in vivid detail, witnessing awe-inspiring solar flares and sunspots, before embarking on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of these world-class professional telescopes. From these majestic heights, we drop down to a picturesque local village for an included light meal, after which we head back toward Carboneras. For those who wish to stretch their legs, we offer a drop-off at the start of the promenade to enjoy a delightful 2km walk back to the town center before finishing our extraordinary day with a tasty evening meal together.

After one final breakfast at our lovely hotel, we bid farewell and set off for a thrilling final day of discovery in the dramatic Tabernas Desert. We get to grips with the future of green energy at the Plataforma Solar de Almería, the world’s leading research center for concentrating solar technologies. On this exclusive guided tour, you will marvel at giant solar mirrors, experience fascinating live scientific demonstrations, and learn first-hand how cutting-edge solar power and water desalination systems are shaping a sustainable world. To top off our getaway, we call into a lovely seaside location where you can select your ideal restaurant for lunch by the water, arriving back home at approximately 17:30 with wonderful memories of a truly unique tour.
