Another unforgettable adventure with Jessica and David awaits, as we invite you to experience Carnival in true Castilla–La Mancha style. At the heart of the celebrations lies the legendary Domingo de Piñata parade, a spectacular six-hour procession that sweeps through the city in a dazzling finale of colour, music, and movement. Imagine the streets alive with vibrant floats, the steady rhythm of carnival bands, and thousands of dancers shimmering in magnificent costumes, creating an atmosphere that is as joyous as it is captivating.
Recognised as a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest, this parade is not only a feast for the senses but also a prestigious National Competition of Carnival Groups. Around 45 troupes, each boasting nearly a hundred members, transform the city’s main boulevard into a living stage. Over 4,500 participants bring the parade to life, their energy carrying the celebration from morning until late afternoon. For the very best view of the action, seats are available along the parade route and last year were just 5€ each, paid directly to the seat attendants. As the spectacular parade lasts for around six hours, most visitors prefer to stroll the streets, soaking up the lively atmosphere from different vantage points, and pausing to enjoy a drink or snack in one of the many cafés along the way.
To ensure the journeys are as enjoyable as the destination, we pause on both days for a traditional Menú del Día, giving you a true taste of local flavours. We also slip in a visit to the Carnival Museum in a nearby village to find out more about how the region celebrates this tradition.
