We are very excited to announce a brand-new tour to the Granada Geopark! Researched, designed and accompanied by us, Jessica & David, especially for you! It’s a holiday full of scenery, history, and memorable experiences, with everything arranged so you can simply relax and enjoy.
We’ve timed it perfectly for the almond blossom season, the delicate pink and white flowers, framed by the snow capped Sierra Nevadas provide the perfect contrast to the stark and barren Bad Lands of the park. We spend a morning off-roading it in chauffeur driven 4×4 to journey deep into the extraordinary desert. This surreal landscape of ravines, canyons, and towering “fairy chimneys” feels almost otherworldly, and as we travel off the beaten track, we come face to face with its raw beauty—an unforgettable experience that shows nature at its most spectacular. We take a Tourist Train to a magnificent cave where our prehistoric ancestors once lived. Models bring their daily lives into context and the marvel of the geology of the caves provides an ideal setting – there are no steps, just gentle ramps to navigate. Also included is a 3km flat river walk that incorporates wooden hanging platforms, a cave and a metal suspension bridge – as the path is there and back, you can walk as much or as little as you please.
Our journey takes us to four varied museums, each offering insight into the land where Europe’s earliest nomads first made their home. At the Ethnographic Museum we have a hands-on bread-making class, where you can roll up your sleeves and learn how to bake the region’s traditional artisan bread – a real taste of the past. At the castle of Seven Towers we have a guided tour. At the Megalithic Interpretation Centre we watch as neolithic culture is brought to life. For the fourth museum it is a real privilege to be welcomed into Paco’s remarkable cave house where his family live, before ascending to the steps to the upper floors, which he and his neighbours have lovingly transformed into a museum. The excitement doesn’t stop there as we witness a Bird of Prey show and see the good work carried out by a local animal sanctuary.
We have included all four midday meals and we have a one course menu del noche with a glass of wine at the beautiful 4* Zenete Hotel. All you need to bring is a little loose change for extra drinks and souvenir buying!
