The town of Torrevieja will be celebrating the Fiesta of the Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of fishermen from the 13th to the 16th July 2024 when the statue of the Virgen is paraded around the town and then taken out to sea on one of the fishing boats!
Saturday 13th July
20:00 Mass in honour of all fishermen at the Sagrado Corazon de Jesus followed by the Flower Offering Parade to the Hombre del Mar monument.
Tuesday 16th July Dia de la Virgen del Carmen
08:0 Diana, early morning music parade
11:30 Traditional ‘greasy pole competition’ at the port. A tree truck will be laid out over the water and covered in greas. A red flag will be placed at the far end and anyone who wants to can walk along the greasy pole and try to be the first to retreave the flag!
19:00 Mass at the Iglesia de la Inmaculada.
20:00 Procession with the statue of the Virgen del Carmen. Route:Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción, Paseo de La Libertad, Dique de Levante to the Fishing Port where the Maritime Procession takes places. The statue returns to land and there is a firework display. She then continues along the return route via Dique de Levante, Juan Aparicio, Zoa finishing at the Parroquia del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús when a Firework display
