The traditional and compact village of San Fulgencio is the municipal capital of the area. The town hall, archaeology museum and church are all located in the village square and the small weekly market takes place every Tuesday morning just a few streets away. It has the impressive Cardenal Belluga auditorium which regularly hosts concerts and shows as well as a sports centre with two outdoor open air swimming pools.
The urbanisation of La Marina is on the inland side of the main N332 road. This is a large residential area with some green zones including the El Oasis Natural Park with its pine trees, picnic tables, barbecue areas, football pitch and small man made lake. There is a helpful tourist office, a town hall and foreign residents office. The well established and friendly Lawn Green Bowls Club is centrally based at the La Marina Sport Complex.
There are various commercial zones with large supermarkets, small shops, restaurants and bars which offer a great selection of international cuisine and lively nights out. There are two weekly street markets, one on a Thursday morning in the urban area and the other on a Saturday morning at the Bahia de las Dunas Commercial Centre.
The old village of La Marina, which actually belongs to the municipal area of Elche rather than San Fulgencio, is on the coast side of the N332 road. It consists of a long high street with a small selection of shops, bars and cafes. You can relax on the long sandy beach, picnic underneath the pine trees or take a walk through the sand dunes in the El Pinet Natural Park.
