The EuroTourGuide Positive Place this week is the Rio Seco Walk in Pinar de Campoverde, near Pilar de la Horadada. Watch the video to find out more about the 3km long route.
There is free parking at the Meson Rio Seco Restaurant and Sports Area. Click on the link or copy and paste the coordinates into google. https://goo.gl/maps/haBMpWAJ4BSe5jRU8 37.902664, -0.830723
The walk starts at the Area Natural Rio Seco, about 800 meters along the road. Stand with the Restaurant on your left and walk out of the car park and follow the green signs marked Ruta de Senderismo. Take the first road on your right and continue until you see the wooden signs for the Area Natural Rio Seco. The path starts here, turn right and follow the green sign for Rio Seco, down some elongated steps with a wooden handrail. The path is not well marked, but easy to see as you follow other peoples footprints. It crosses the river in several places where stepping stones have been placed. When you arrive at the concreted part, cross the concrete keeping left, do not follow the concrete path uphill. As you near the finish, the route divides and there is a green Ruta de Senderismo sign with a bent arrow on it for you to follow (do not follow the sign to Mil Palmeras which passes under a bridge). The walk ends when it rejoins the road. Turn right and follow the road back up to the Restaurant.
There is more about the route and a pictorial map (page 12) in this PDF information booklet.
