Elche CF Legend Nino

EuroTourGuide Coach Tours Elche CF Nino
Sunday's home match for Elche CF was postponed due to the extreme weather brought by Storm Filomena. The record breaking snowfall caused transport services to cease, resulting in Madrid based Getafe CF being unable to travel to the Martinez Valero. At the time of writing the match has been rescheduled for Monday 11th at 19:00, so the report will be published next week.
However, there is always something interesting in the world of Football! Once again Elche CF legend Nino has been making new records. With last weeks match against Athletic Bilbao, the Almeria born striker became the first player in history to play 700 league games in Spain's La Liga. At the age of 40 and 207 days he has clocked up an impressive 129 games in the Primera and 571 in the Segunda,
Less than a month ago he also broke another record, this time by becoming the oldest scorer in the Copa del Rey at the age of 40 years and 189 days. He has the opportunity to break his own record as Elche CF continue their Copa del Rey campaign. They will take on Real Vallecano in Round 32 at the Estadio de Vallecas in the south easterly suburbs of Madrid on Saturday the 16th January.
Regular readers and all Elche CF fans will remember that last season Nino achieved the title of the most prolific Elche CF goal scorer, when he overtook the previous record of 129 club goals. He is also the holder of the title for the most number of official matches played for Elche CF.
The 'grandfather of goals' is now looking to become the oldest scorer in the Primera. A record which has been held by the Brazilian born ex footballer Donato since 2002, when he was playing for Deportivo de La Coruña.
Elche CF will play 4 matches in the next 2 weeks! The postponed fixture against Getafe on Monday 11th, the 32nd round of the Copa del Rey against Real Vallecano on Saturday 16th, then against Valladolid on Tuesday the 19th at 19:00 and finally they will face Barcelona on Sunday 24th at 16:15.
As soon as spectators are allowed back into the stadiums, EuroTourGuide will once again be offering Coach Tours with Match Tickets to support Elche CF. Please sign up to receive your free newsletter on
