Santiago de la Ribera Fiesta Carmen & Santiago

The Mar Menor town of San Javier and its coastal area, Santiago de la Ribera, will be celebrating the Fiesta of the Virgen del Carmen and the Apostol Santiago from the 2nd July to the 27th August 2018. The Vigen del Carmen is the patron saint of fishermen and sailors, so her saints day is marked all along the coast of Spain and the Apostol Santiago is the patron saint of Spain, so his saints day is honoured all over Spain. Saturday 7th July
22:30 Coronation of the Teenage and Adult Fiesta Queens on the Explanada Barnuevo, Santiago de la Ribera
 
Sunday 8th July
22:00 Coronation of the Children’s Fiesta Queens on the Explanada Barnuevo, Santiago de la Ribera
 
Friday 13th July
22:00 Exhibition of the Rondallas (folk groups) and Choirs of Santiago de la Ribera, on the Explanada Barnuevo,
 
Monday 16th July – Virgen del Carmen
09:00 Diana, early morning wake up call through the streets of the town.
20:30 Mass followed by a procession with the statue of the Virgen del Carmen around the Barrio de los Pescadores.
 
Friday 20th July
22:00 15th Choir Competition on the Explanada Barnuevo
 
Sunday 22nd July
09:30 Marine procession in honour of the Vigen del Carmen, followed by a homage to the fisherman of the year.
 
Monday 23rd July
22:00 Concert for their 75th Anniversary by the Banda de la Academia General del Aire.
 
Wednesday 25th July – Santiago Apostol
09:00 Diana, early morning procession with the music bands.
12:00 Exhibition by the Patrulla Aguila Flying Squad above the beaches
13:00 7th Dia del Caldero, tasting of the traditional Mar Menor Fish Stew cooked in a cauldron over a fire on the Explanada Barnuevo.
20:00 Mass in honour of Santiago Apostol, followed by a Procession though the streets of the town and a big firework display.
 
Sunday 12th August
12:00 Exhibition of Antique Vehicles on the Explanada Barnuevo.
