EuroTourGuide Positive Place 28th February 2021
The EuroTourGuide Coach Tours Positive Place this week is a 'blast from our past'. In 2009 we wrote a Guide Book called the Hayes Guide Costa Blanca South and then filmed 5 programmes with Viva TV, which featured some of the locations from the book.

Watch the episode about the Corredor Verde, which is the cycling and walking path alongside the Rio Segura from Guardamar del Segura to Murcia. It passes the villages of Rojales, Formentera, Algorfa and Benejuzar, then enters the town of Orihuela, where it continues to the city of Murcia, a total of 50km.

Guardamar del Segura
Park where you can in this area and walk away from the N332 towards the petrol garage and the Guardia Civil. Before you arrive at the roundabout, there is a foot bridge on your left hand side. Go over this and take the path down to the banks of the river. Keeping the river on your right continue under the road bridge and follow the path as it turns to the left, under the N332, then you are on the Corredor Verde. Walk or cycle along the banks of the Rio Segura to Rojales, Formentera, Algorfa, Benejuzar, Orihuela and beyond.

Rojales
Walk or cycle along beside the river. If you are doing the whole route you must cross over the river here. To go inland against the flow to Formentera, Benejuzar and Orihuela keep the river on your left, to go towards the sea with the flow to the marina at Guardamar keep the river on your left.

Formentera del Segura
Turn right towards the mountain for Algorfa, Benejuzar and Orihuela or turn left for Rojales and Guardamar Marina. There are paths on both banks of the river and a footbridge over the river connecting both sides at the Rojales end of Formentera village. Rojales is only a couple of kilometres away and the river runs straight through the middle of the village, walk there along one bank and after a coffee stop walk back along the other bank using the footbridge to cross the river.

Algorfa
For the walking and cycling route park on the road beside any of the traditional one storey houses. To enter the path walk back the few meters to the entrance of the road and on your left hand side you will see the path. As you turn the corner turn right for Formentera, Rojales and Guardamar Marina, turn left for Benejuzar and Orihuela.

Benejuzar
For the walking and cycling path park on the slip road beside the shops and apartments at the entrance to the village. Go away from the village, towards the roundabout and the bridge over the river. For Algorfa, Formentera, Rojales and Guardamar Marina join the path before the bridge on your right. For Orihuela town centre cross the bridge and take the path on your left heading towards the mountain.
