Pilar de la Horadada is the most southerly municipality within the province of Alicante. It is the administrative capital of inland Pinar de Campoverde and the coastal villages (featured separately) of Torre de la Horadada, Mil Palmeras and El Mojón.
Pilar de la Horadada is a mixture of old and modern. At its heart is the Plaza de la Iglesia, where the church and tourist office are situated. In the nearby Casa de Cultural there is often an interesting temporary exhibition or show to enjoy as well as the Gratiniano Baches Museum and the town hall is just a few streets away. The weekly market takes place every Friday morning, and the sports centre includes tennis courts and an indoor heated swimming pool. A round of golf can be played at the 18 hole Lo Romero golf course.
Slightly further inland is the urbanisation area of Pinar de Campoverde. This is a large estate with a selection of shops, bus route and a sports centre with tennis courts and an outside swimming pool for use during the summer only. The Rio Seco Natural Park has a really interesting and picturesque marked 4 km circular walking route along the dry river bed, watch out as it floods after a rain storm!
