Los Montesinos is a busy village with a large and modern square and a long high street. The town hall and church are located beside the square and there are many bars, cafes and restaurants to choose from as well as a small street market on a Friday afternoon. There is an open air municipal swimming pool which can be used during the summer and the Auditorium in the Escuela de Musica y Cultura which offers a varied selection of cultural activities and performances. The 6,000m2 natural park called the Jardín Botánico Parque 30 De Julio has plenty of trees, grassy areas, brick paths, a fountain and a children's play area.

The village is surrounded by lemon and orange groves and still retains a tranquil and almost rural atmosphere. Follow the marked SL-CV115 Ruta Salada 3.5 km circular walking route as it takes you through the countryside and enjoy the views from the tower. There are leaflets available about the walk from the town hall and an information board beside the church, from where the route starts. To the east of Los Montesinos lies the working salt lake of Torrevieja, you can walk along the shores of the lake by parking on the outskirts of the village from where you can also join the old railway track into the Acequión and Náufragos area of Torrevieja, finishing close to the beach.

To the north of Los Montesinos village is the Greenlands Sports Complex with a Lawn Bowls Club, a 9 Hole Pitch and Putt Golf Course and a miniature Adventure Golf Course (a mix of mini and normal golf played on artificial grass with a putter and a ball) for the not so serious player.

The nearby urbanisation area of La Herrada is included within the limits of Los Montesinos and has a commercial centre with a selection of shops and places to eat.
