The town of Albatera is located at the southern tip of the Crevillent Mountain range. The main N340 runs right through the middle of the town, creating a high street. The church is opposite the town hall in the Plaza de Espana, and the Thursday morning market is held in the surrounding streets. The manicured Parque de la Huerta with the 3,000 seater open air auditorium, water features and beautiful planting is nearby. The Municipal Sports Centre has both an outdoor and an indoor swimming pool as well as a gym and an active class schedule. The medium sized weekly street market takes place on a Thursday morning The Parque de Montana Virgen del Rosario is located at the foot of the mountain and has a picnic and barbecue area with magnificent views of the surrounding area. There are several marked walking and cycling trails to discover.
The neighbouring town of San Isidro is significant as the location for the train station know as at the Albatera – Catral – San Isidro station. From here the RENFE Cercanias trains travel north to Elche and Alicante and south to Orihuela and Murcia.
