Torrevieja Habaneras Song Competition

The week long International Habaneras Competition in Torrevieja starts on Monday 22nd July and continues until Sunday 28th July 2019. It is one of the most popular cultural events within Torrevieja. The first competition was held in 1955 and there has been one every year since then. The Habanera is a specific type of music that originated from Cuba in the 19th century. It was the first written music to be rhythmically based on an African motif, and the first dance music from Cuba to be exported all over the world.


Every evening there is a performance on the Eras de la Sal, the promenade just to the south of the Club Natico, leading off the Paseo Vista Alegre where the day and night market is located. Tickets and passes can be brought in advance from 3rd to the 14th July from the offices of the Municipal Board of the International Contest of Habanera and Polyphony of Torrevieja (C /. Patricio Perez, 1-1 ° C) , Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 14.00 and from 18.30 to 20.30. Alternatively they can be brought on the actual days of the shows from the ticket offices at the Teatro Municipal from 11.00 to 13:00 and 19.00 to 23.00.
