A not to be missed Wine Club Tour with the amazing opportunity to spend the night in a refurbished Finca Rural Hotel nestled within the vineyards. This is an extremely special experience as the group is limited to just 22 people.
The tour starts with a stop at the Hacienda del Espino Bodega, near Almansa where we visit the vines with their almost ripe grapes, take a tour of the bodega, the olive press and the stables before tasting 3 wines, accompanied by Iberica Ham, and their premium quality Extra Virgen Olive Oil. It is onto a very small hamlet for a home cooked lunch with a choice of main course, flan and a drink. We arrive at the Entreviñas Rural Hotel which is owned by the Nodus Bodega. After checking in we tour their facilities and sample their wines and vermouths. There is time to relax in this peaceful environment in the middle of nowhere before a Menu del Noche is served with wine from the Bodega. A nights sleep under the star studded sky surrounded by vines tops off the day.
After a Spanish style breakfast we head to the town of Utiel and take a guided tour around some of their antique underground bodegas which began the tradition of wine making in the area. Our third and final bodega is run by grape and wine enthusiasts Juan and Susan. They specialise in natural wines and have been gradually taking over abandon vineyards since 2016. Their bodega, Pigar, is in their house so we use the cultural centre for tasting 4 of their wines. Added to this, Juan as an expert and qualified Paella chef, will be cooking our lunch right in front of us. He will be teaching us the tricks and techniques of traditional paella making and this feast of a dish will be accompanied by half a bottle of Pigar wine.
